Although a cursory glance won't reveal many changes, there have been significant improvements across the board to this beloved extension. The programmers have completed a full rewrite of the codebase which has offered up improved speed and performance for large Joomla! based forum's and communities. With yet another major development, Mobile Joomla! is adding support for Kunena forums to its Joomla website platform for mobile devices. When used in conjunction with their Elegance template and JQuery Mobile, administrators can provide clean forum access no matter what device is being used to access the site.

The developers of the popular web forum extension, Kunena, have released a development roadmap on their company blog to give users and other developers an idea of the course that Kunena will take for this coming year. During 2012, the forum extension will be releasing new versions which for the most part remain synched with the version numbering of Joomla itself.
